wEX is a P2P stablecoin/cash exchange app. It uses escrow plus reputation signals.
If your question isn’t covered, ask in Discord or Telegram.
Product basics
What is wEX?
wEX helps users swap fiat and stablecoins with:
- Escrow for the crypto side.
- Ratings + PoSFI signals to make trust harder to fake.
- In-app chat to keep negotiation auditable.
Start here: Introduce.
What problem does it solve?
It makes local P2P swaps safer and easier to coordinate:
- Better local discovery (map + filters).
- Clear settlement steps (escrow flow).
- Connect real users without overpaying
- A score that rewards good behavior over time.
Full flow: Use case.
Which payment methods are supported?
Fiat settlement is off-chain. Common options:
- Cash
- Bank transfer
You still need to agree on details in chat.
Which networks are supported?
Network support depends on the environment (Testnet vs mainnet).
In the core flow, networks are treated as an offer setting.
Examples mentioned in the MVP flow:
- TRC-20
- Solana
- Base
During Testnet, supported networks can change and are announced in-app.
See: Testnet terms and Use case.
Which platforms are supported?
MVP components include:
- Mobile app (iOS and Android)
- Web client
See: Introduce.
Is wEX global or region-limited?
The product is designed for global coverage.
Discovery is optimized for local trading using location filters.
See: Features.
How trading works
What are “maker” and “taker”?
- Maker creates an offer.
- Taker responds to an offer.
Maker/taker flips by side. This matters for who deposits escrow.
See the roles section in: Use case.
Who deposits into escrow?
The stablecoin seller deposits stablecoins into escrow.
Then:
- Buyer sends fiat (cash or bank transfer).
- Seller confirms receipt of fiat.
- Escrow releases stablecoins to the buyer.
What does “one-sided guarantee” mean?
Escrow reduces crypto-side risk:
- The stablecoins are locked before fiat is sent.
- Stablecoins are released after fiat is confirmed.
It does not remove all fraud risk. Fiat is still off-chain.
What is an “unsuccessful deal”?
Unsuccessful deals reduce your score.
Examples:
- Cancelled after acceptance.
- Escrow timeout.
- Dispute loss.
Definition: Rating system.
Safety, fraud, and good practice
Is wEX “trustless”?
No.
Escrow makes the crypto side enforceable. Fiat is still off-chain.
Use:
- Reputation signals.
- In-app chat logs.
- Safe meeting and transfer practices.
How do I reduce scam risk?
Practical defaults:
- Keep negotiation in in-app chat.
- Prefer counterparties with higher score and better history.
- Start with small sizes when dealing with a new counterparty.
- Don’t accept “move to another app” pressure.
Reputation model: Rating system.
Does wEX support disputes?
Dispute outcomes are treated as deal outcomes.
Losing a dispute counts as an unsuccessful deal.
See outcome classification: Rating system.
Score, tiers, and fees
What is the wEX score?
The score is your in-app reputation number.
It impacts:
- Tiers
- Fees
- Access to certain actions
Formula and examples: Rating system.
What increases my score the most?
High-signal inputs:
- Successful deals.
- Better PoSFI multiplier (Ethos-derived).
- Linking accounts (Telegram, and optionally X).
Details: Rating system.
Why link X (Twitter)?
Linking X:
- Increases base score (Telegram + X vs Telegram only).
- Enables an X bonus that offsets 1 unsuccessful deal.
- Improves the default PoSFI multiplier behavior.
See: Rating system.
What are tiers?
Tiers convert score into:
- A visible badge.
- Lower app fees at higher tiers.
- Higher referral share at higher tiers.
Full breakdown: Tier system (including referral and app fees).
Who pays the app fee?
The maker chooses who pays the fee per order:
- Buyer pays, or
- Seller pays
Fee is charged only on successful completion.
When does my fee rate change?
Fee is tier-based:
- Inside a tier, the fee rate stays constant.
- When you cross a tier threshold, the new tier fee applies immediately.
- The fee rate is based on the tier of the account paying the fee.
Testnet and points
When does Testnet start?
Testnet registration is planned for Q2 2026.
Access may start invite-only.
See: Registration and Roadmap.
Do Testnet tokens have real value?
No.
Testnet uses mock tokens (mock USDT/USDC equivalents).
They have no real-world value.
Rules: Testnet terms.
What carries over from Testnet to mainnet?
- Carries over: referrals earned during Testnet.
- Resets: ratings, tiers, discounts.
- Points: Testnet-only. Can be used for mainnet reward eligibility.
See: Testnet terms.
What are points?
Points are a Testnet participation metric:
- Non-transferable.
- No monetary value.
- Used for reward eligibility decisions (if/when announced).
See: Point program.
How do I earn points?
High-signal activities include:
- Completing deals end-to-end.
- Consistent activity over time.
- Bug reports with clear steps and evidence.
- Referring users who become active testers.
The exact formula is intentionally not published.
See: Point program.
Token, staking, and revenue
How does staking revenue distribution work?
The current design:
- Monthly USDT distribution.
- Pool size: 100% of company revenue for the period.
- Revenue definition:
net app fees collected − referral payouts. - Time-weighted stake determines payout.
Details: Revenue system.
Do treasury tokens receive the monthly distribution?
Yes, by design:
- Treasury tokens are “staked forever”.
- Treasury stake is included in time-weighted totals.
This impacts user APR.
See: Revenue system.
Legal, privacy, and compliance
How does wEX handle privacy?
wEX is designed to:
- Hide personal profile details by default.
- Show only what’s needed to trade safely (example: a score).
- Keep negotiation in-app for auditability.
See: Privacy controls.
What is “Travel Rule mode”?
Travel Rule support can be exposed as an optional account feature:
- Opt-in accounts can provide additional identity fields.
- It can unlock trading with regulated counterparties and partner rails.
Overview: Travel rule.
What data is required by the Travel Rule?
Requirements vary by jurisdiction.
A common model uses a 1,000 USD/EUR threshold:
- Under threshold: names + wallet/tx reference (verification risk-based).
- At/above threshold: additional originator identity fields.
Practical checklist: VASP.
Fiat settlement is off-chain (cash or bank transfer). Escrow reduces crypto-side risk, but it does not eliminate fraud. Use reputation signals and keep negotiation in-app.
